Boniface, a Digital Development Specialist and consultant with a Ph.D. in information systems (IS) and expertise in Data Science and GenAI, is a leader in his field. His over 15 years of international technical and leadership experience is a crucial aspect of his work, as he leads digital transformation, implements development programs, integrates digital systems and AI technologies, and assesses digital ecosystems for organizations and countries. With an MSc in Computer Science, a BSc in IT, and certification as a Systems Engineer, Boniface brings a global perspective to his roles. He was previously the Director of ICT at KALRO. His international experience is further demonstrated by his roles as the Digital Agriculture Specialist at FAO of the United Nations, the CTO/CIO at the US Army Medical Research Directorate- Africa, Care International, and Coca-Cola. His extensive experience in digital innovation and technologies and his global perspective make him a leader in this rapidly evolving field. He has a proven track record of establishing partnerships and collaborating with development partners, agricultural ministries, and institutions in most African countries. He has long-standing collaborative relationships and consultancy work with the World Bank, EU/EC, USAID, GIZ, and International Universities (Helsinki, MIT, Wageningen, NYU, TU deft). He is also the Chair of the Committee on Data of the International Council for Science (CODATA) Agriculture Task Group (ATG) and an advisory Committee member of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)- Resilience Frontiers. He is also an advisory member on Data Science for Social Determinants at New York University (NYU) and Higher Education Institutions Generating Holistic and Transformative Solutions (HEIGHTS) – the University of Nairobi, and Mercycorps- Weather Climate Services Steering Committee. In 2016, he received the Climate Information Prize Award from UKAID for developing a platform that tackles the impacts of climate change. He also received the Africa CIO Excellence Award in 2019 for spearheading the digitization of agricultural innovation and transformation in Africa. Boniface’s scholarly contributions, including his published articles in peer-reviewed journals, are a testament to his academic achievements and the depth of his knowledge in the field.
