Carolijn Gommans is Director of IDH FarmFit Intelligence.IDH FarmFit has launched the FarmFit Insights Hub, The FarmFit Insights Hub promotes a rigorous understanding of how smallholder-inclusive business models can deliver positive outcomes for businesses and the farmers with whom they work. Insights have been built on quantitative and qualitative data from over 100 business models and include concrete guidance on the do’s and don’ts when working with farmers in different contexts.

Carolijn is a purpose-driven and energetic leader with over 25 years of experience in the development sector.As an economist, she is dedicated to enabling the growth of people, companies, and systems, with a focus on inclusive smallholder markets that benefit farmers, women, and youth while considering climate change.

Throughout her career, Carolijn has held various positions in private companies (e.gPalladium), commercial bank (Zanaco Plc. in Zambia), and donor organizations (Challenge Fund for Youth Employment, Hivos) where she has worked on blended finance, agriculture, gender, digital financial services and building/supporting successful companies through developing strategies and sound financial, risk and stakeholder management

With a Master’s degree in Development Economics, specializing in Development Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Carolijn combines her academic knowledge with practical insights to drive positive change. She is an accomplished speaker and serves on various boards, including Stichting Cardano Development and Agri3’s Technical Assistance Fund.
