Eric has had a distinguished career in financial services, spanning 20 years, with both local and
multinational banks in Kenya, where he has held various dynamic roles in Technology, Change
Management, Strategy and Business Development. Eric has been a prolific change agent in the
Kenyan financial services market, innovating and commercializing transformational business
models and directed large organisational transformation programs in various financial institutions.
He pioneered the development and commercialization of the successful mobile savings and loans
banking service that has been rolled out to Kenya (M-SHWARI), Tanzania (M-PAWA), Uganda,
Rwanda and Ivory Coast (MOKASH). This service and business model has emerged as the
reference model for mobile-centric financial services.
He continues to drive transformative innovations in Financial Services industry, and most recently
launched Africa’s first, fully digital banking experience, NCBA LOOP, a disruptive mobile-first,
challenger bank, that targets the millennial entrepreneur.
Eric is a BSc. graduate in Mathematics and Computer Science from JKUAT and completed his
MBA in Strategic Management at the Strathmore Business School. He is also an alumnus of the
Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, having completed their Executive Leadership
programme and also completed the Harvard Business School Strategic Leadership program in
Inclusive Finance.
Eric is a keen cyclist, and a fast fading footballer. He is increasingly channeling his energy to the
development and mentoring of Fintech focused startup companies that seek to solve social
problems at scale.
