Mr. John Mungai is an economist with over 13 years of experience in pro-poor economic development and development finance. He leads the strategy, business transformation, product development, research, marketing and advisory services functions at Agricultural Finance Corporation. He is responsible for creating strategies to further trigger financial inclusion, resource mobilization and partners’ vibrancy and engagement. He previously worked as an economist for The National Treasury and Economic Planning – Kenya and the County Government of Meru- Kenya. Mr. John Mungai is also the current National Secretary for the Economists Society of Kenya and is a technical member of the national financial services sector.

At AFC, has led successful initiatives aimed at deepening agricultural finance. He has led the design of business and transformation strategies, design of business innovative agri-financing models, design and roll-out of women and youth inclusion financing products and establishment of research and advisory services at AFC.

His key interests areas include: business strategy; financial inclusion strategies, economic and operational planning; research; product design, fundraising; and project management.
