Uzoma Henry Alika, a true multipotentialite, boasts over eight years professional experience five of which have been in Nigeria’s Agricultural Industry. During this time, he collaborated with various AgricTech companies to establish sustainable systems, enabling them to thrive despite industry challenges. The agricultural sector in Nigeria has faced its share of difficulties, but Uzoma has actively contributed to the solutions, fostering trust and progress.
His unwavering belief in technology as a bridge to unlock the agricultural sector’s potential has driven him to engage in diverse projects across northern Nigeria. Notably, he partnered with organizations like Trade Investment Hub, Mercy Corp (for their Rural Resilience Activity), and Rabo Bank (Acorn). In these roles, he played a pivotal part in facilitating input financing for thousands of smallholder farmers in the region.
Currently, Uzoma holds the position of Head of Crop Operations at Thrive Agric Limited, a prominent Nigerian AgricTech company. Over the past three years, he has been instrumental in expanding the company’s operations by an impressive 12-fold. He has cultivated a network of over 500,000 farmers, overseen a team of over 2,000 individuals across 9 states in Nigeria, and managed the firm’s multibillion naira operations.
In his advisory capacity, he has provided valuable guidance to two high-growth agric-tech startups. His expertise has been crucial in navigating the complex terrain of grain aggregation, identifying optimal profit-maximizing strategies, and establishing efficient payment processes.
Uzoma’s academic qualifications include an MBA and an Advanced Diploma in Agribusiness from the Tekedia Institute in the USA. Additionally, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Nigeria’s prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, where he graduated with first-class honors.
When not immersed in his professional endeavors, Uzoma treasures the moments he spends with his wife and beloved daughter. They are the center of his world. He is an avid football enthusiast and dabbles as a digital product developer on the side. Presently, he is engrossed in two exciting projects: ‘Farmer ID,’ which provides investors with a secure, encrypted method to assess farmers by considering their credit scores and facial identity, and ‘iServe,’ a platform designed to connect laundries, maids, and mechanics with clients in a bid to combat the growing insecurity within his community.
