Umang Prabhakar

Umang Prabhakar is a Senior Manager at ISF, based in New York. He is responsible for delivering ISF’s food and land systems financing strategy work.

Before joining ISF, Umang was a Manager at IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative, where he helped design service delivery models and regenerative projects for MSMEs operating in tea, palm oil, and rice value chains in Africa and south-east Asia. Prior to that, Umang worked at Dalberg Advisors, where he advised the world’s leading development institutions on bringing new services in agriculture, clean energy, water and sanitation, and education to underserved markets. He has also worked as a consultant to UNDP and major multi-stakeholder alliances on digital public infrastructure, MSME financing, and carbon and biodiversity projects.

Umang is the author of several public reports on international development topics, including “Blended Finance Playbook for Climate-Smart Agrifood Systems” for CPI, “Future of Indian agriculture and food systems: Vision 2030” for India’s leading agritech VC, Omnivore, and  “Oral Democracy and Women’s Oratory Competency in Indian Village Assemblies” for the World Bank.

Umang holds a MPA in energy and environment and data analytics from Columbia University and the London School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Cornell University.
