Amath Pathe Sene is the Managing Director of the Africa Food Systems Forum. A development executive with over 20 years of leadership experience, he has spent his career harnessing investment and partnerships to transform agri-food systems and reduce poverty across Africa, South America, Central Asia and Europe.

He has mobilized over USD 1.5 billion in blended finance from public and private sources and overseen program portfolios exceeding USD 2 billion with UN agencies (UNDP, UNEP, IFAD), the European Union, international financial institutions, governments and the private sector.

His expertise spans pub lic–private–producer partnerships (4Ps), climate finance, digitalization, trade and market systems, and youth engagement, focused on turning policy into bankable programs that deliver measurable impact for producers. He has led global convening platforms of over 6,000 participants to unlock investment and shape policy.

He holds master’s degrees in agricultural engineering, agribusiness and sustainable development, and speaks French, English, Portuguese, Wolof, and Serer.
