About the Exhibitor

Eric Chege is a Farmer Service Centre (FSC) and co-founder of Shibah Millers, a maize milling business located in Kikopey Village, Elementaita Ward, Gilgil Sub-County, Nakuru County. He started maize milling in 2017 and expanded his business into the market during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the beginning, Shibah Millers processed about 20 bags of maize and generated a monthly income of approximately KES 100,000. Through hard work, business growth, and improved market access, the company has increased its milling capacity to between 150 and 200 bags per day, with a monthly turnover ranging from KES 5 million to KES 10 million.

Shibah Millers currently targets customers in the Western and Eastern regions of Kenya and is working towards expanding its market into Nairobi. The business has created employment opportunities for 20 people, contributing to livelihoods within the local community. In addition to milling, Eric engages in maize aggregation, working with five FSCs who help source maize from farmers in their networks. This arrangement strengthens the link between farmers and the milling industry by creating a market for their produce and supporting reliable maize supply to the business.
