Ledama Masidza
African Food Fellowship
Ledama Masidza is a marine conservationist and community development leader recognised for his work in conservation, food systems, and youth empowerment. He began his career in Kuruwitu as Environmental Programme Manager at Oceans Alive, where he developed environmental programmes and fisheries co-management initiatives with local communities.
He plays a key role at the African Food Fellowship, where his work focuses on building networks that spark collaboration and drive action in food systems. He also coordinates a global philanthropic portfolio that supports the fundraising capacity of grassroots conservation and biodiversity NGOs. His projects span Northern Samburu, the Kenyan coastline, and networks in Brazil, Fiji, Nigeria, and Canada.
Ledama has been recognised as a Global Changemaker 2023, one of the World Economic Forum’s UpLink Top Innovators, and a recipient of the Blue Champion Award. He has spoken at global platforms including the World Conservation Congress, the UN Food Systems Summit, the African Protected Area Congress, COP28, and COP29.
